I walked to the mailbox this morning to mail off a mother’s day card to my 95-year-old mom. Half way there my new-fangled watch beeped and told me I closed all three circles in my activity app yesterday and that I should try to do so today. I had to smile because I was actually being encouraged by my watch and it worked!
Of course encouragement works whether it’s from a family member, friend, boss, colleague, a coach or your watch. Hope and confidence can be elusive and finding it is made easier when we have help. “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.....”. As a coach, I take every opportunity to affirm and encourage. If I can help create confidence in my clients they are able to see more clearly, solve problems and move forward; and that is success. Often a word of encouragement is all that is needed to create momentum. Galileo figured it out in the 17th century: a body in motion tends to stay in motion.
Who can you encourage today?
